Update on Regence BlueShield and Northwest Washington
Medical Bureau merger
The merger of Northwest Washington Medical Bureau (NWMB)
and Regence BlueShield was approved in December 2000.
As a result of this merger, Whatcom, Skagit, San Juan
and Island counties are now considered part of the Regence
BlueShield service area.
NWMB customers have not yet experienced any changes
to their dental benefits. However, beginning in July
2001, NWMB employer groups will begin converting from
their NWMB incentive dental plans to a NWMB traditional
dental product. Then, in January 2002, NWMB groups will
begin moving to Regence BlueShield dental products upon
renewal.
If you practice in San Juan, Skagit, Island or Whatcom
county and are not currently a participating Regence
BlueShield dental provider, you are eligible to become
part of our dental network. If you would like more information,
