October 2001: Dental Provisions #17

Processing Tips

Attention electronic-claims submitters
Effective September 10, 2001, electronically submitted claims are no longer restricted to eight line items, and may include up to 99 lines.

Partial claims no longer processed
If additional information or x-rays are needed to process a portion of a claim (multiple services), we will delete the complete claim and return it to your office for the information needed. In order to ensure consistency, partial services will no longer be processed.

Attention offices with multiple dentists
Please submit claims using the name of the dentist who provided the service, rather than the name of the dentist who owns the practice. If you are participating with Regence BlueShield and have additional dentists in your office who need to be paid as employees, please call your dental relations representative. Your representative can help you set up Regence BlueShield provider file records to ensure correct payment for your office.

Associates of participating providers who have not previously completed a participating provider application and agreement will need to do so to ensure continuation of direct reimbursement. (A Preferred Provider Agreement must be signed to receive direct reimbursement and any payment information from the Federal Employee Program.)

Changes to your tax ID number?
If your tax ID number changes, please notify us before you submit claims with the new number.

We need to update our system with your new tax ID number before you submit claims. Otherwise, we could send payment in the wrong amounts - and to the patient instead of to your office.
