January 2002: Dental Provisions #18

Clarification: General anesthesia or conscious sedation
The October 2001 issue of Dental Provisions referred to the wrong regulatory WAC in relation to permits for administering general anesthesia or conscious sedation in a dental office. The article should have listed 246.817.175 and 246.817.180 (not 246-8170).

Thank you to all the offices that have provided a copy of the dentist's permit. If your office administers either general anesthesia or conscious sedation and you have not yet faxed or mailed a copy of the permit to Regence BlueShield, please do so as soon as possible. If we don't have a record of the permit, claims for these services dated January 1, 2002, or after will be delayed or denied until we receive the needed information.

Mail copies to:

Regence BlueShield
P.O. Box 21267, MS S513
Seattle, WA 98111-3267

Fax copies to:
(206) 287-5415

NOTE: This requirement does not apply to you if your office administers only nitrous oxide.
