August 2002: Dental Provisions #19

Paper Claims Transition To Utah
Regence BlueShield is a member of The Regence Group, an affiliation of Blue Plans in Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington, that was formed in 1995. The Regence Group is always looking for ways to maintain or reduce administrative costs. As the next step in our affiliation-wide system consolidation, we transferred the pre-keying functions of all paper claims to Utah effective July 15, 2002.

This change allows us to use advanced paper-scanning technology at one location for all The Regence Group affiliates and avoid expensive upgrading and maintenance of imaging equipment at all four Plans. By consolidating business practices, we are able to allocate more of the rate dollar to health-care costs.

Please send paper claims (except FEP, which retains its Seattle address for the time being) to:

Regence BlueShield
P. O. Box 30271
Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0271

Estimates (courtesy reviews), claim appeals, corrected billings and general correspondence still need to go to the Seattle address:

Regence BlueShield
P. O. Box 21267
Seattle, WA 98111-3267

This change does not affect electronic claims.

This article is a reminder; we also sent information to dental providers the last week of June. If you need a copy of that letter and the question-and-answer sheet, please call either customer service at 1-800-848-5424 or your dental relations representative.
